The negotiation process
is the most difficult-and most important-element
of a successful deal. Both parties must
be willing to compromise, yet neither
party wants to make concessions they'll
regret.

Your
negotiating strategy may shift during the process,
depending on the factors influencing the deal. Based
on my experience, I've identified some issues that
can impact your negotiation position, including:
One
major benefit of a real estate agent is that they
can view your situation objectively, and
suggest options you may not have considered. This
is valuable input during the negotiation process.
Your
position will be more credible if you're armed with
a comprehensive market analysis that supports
your sale price.
The
home inspection may uncover some issues. And usually
neither party wants to pay for corrective work to
the house. But if you or the buyer "over-reach"
and fail to arrive at a compromise, the deal will
fall through. Your Realtor can serve as an objective
third party to make sure personalities don't get
in the way of priorities.
